Crypto flaws in Blockchain Android app sent bitcoins to the wrong address

comedy of programming errors could prove catastrophic for affected users. Blockchain, one of the Internet's most widely used Bitcoin wallets, has rushed out an update for its Android app after discovering critical cryptographic and programming flaws that can cause users to send digital coins to the wrong people with no warning. The vulnerabilities affect a subset of people who run Blockchain for Android on versions 4.1 or older of the mobile OS, according to an advisory published Thursday. The most serious of the flaws is the use of the unencrypted HTTP connections when the app's cryptographic engine contacts random.org to obtain random numbers used to generate private keys for Bitcoin addresses. Since January, random.org has required the use of the more secure HTTPS protocol and has returned a 301 Moved Permanently response when accessed through HTTP. As a result, vulnerable installations of Blockchain for Android generated the private key corresponding to the ad...

crypto currency: full steam ahead or a sinking ship without a warning signal.

where is the iceberg in the darkness ahead? when will the next tragic mishap strike?? from allcrypt to coin-swap to cryptoine and to probably way more people than is reported for fear of embarrassment or public outcry and bad feedback/credibility. This poor, new voyager into an ancient art of human manipulation, subversion and influencing never knew what it was up against when it blew up in 2013 to the 1000 mark and stepped out of the basement and into the lime light for its 15 mins. a much abused, well beaten and misused form of trust, or to use the more understandable word most describe as, currency, Cryptocurrency or Bitcoin (the original starlet and main player of the bunch which forms the umbrella term cryptocoins) yes! bitcoin has taken its blows. I'll give it credit though where its due, it as taken its blows like a man and not like some wimp pleading for clemency. It rose. It rose high. It reached such glorious hight, but like Icarus's lofty flight or Ph...

Darkcoin changes its name to Dashcoin

From Fernando Gutierrez- Darkcoin is changing its name/branding to Dash – Digital Cash. The new name will start being used officially and in external services from March 25th onwards. Darkcoin’s vision has always been to create a trustless, decentralised, private and fast payment platform for the benefit of the majority. We are happy with the progress we are making towards reaching this goal. We’ve been able to release instant transaction confirmations, refine our privacy technology and develop our Masternode network into a strong and truly decentralised platform. We’re building a complete solution and working hard to make crypto more suitable for real world adoption. This is why we believe our new brand Dash will better represent all aspects of our platform and make it more accessible to end users. We are only changing the name, no technology is affected by this. The coin, the blockchain and the people will be the same. Users don’t need to act on this, the next update of t...

PAYBASE STOPS WITHDRAWALS! JOSH GARZA DISAPPEARS!

Bitcoin exchange Paybase Monday has shutdown withdrawals from its users, causing a fury on Twitter and throughout their user base, as another exchange closure is feared. Paybase founder Josh Garza has been unavailable for comments, with many users claiming he blocks their account if pressed on this issue on Twitter. Garza has a controlling interest in the Bitcoin mining firm GAW Miners, along with many altcoin ventures. Paybase started to experience trading issues in January when the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) began an investigation. This led to accusations that Paybase and GAW Miners were executing “fraudulent conduct in the sales of securities” with regard to the sale of their Paycoin digital currency. Like many altcoins, users are able to buy into Paycoin by exchanging Bitcoin, and Paybase would handle the transaction on it’s exchange. Paybase has a checkered past when it comes to withdrawals. All withdrawals were suspended from February 27th, 2015 to March 8th, 2...
